My major in college was chemistry, but the technology I chose to teach people in financial need how to catch fish was car maintenance.
Instead of getting a job at a good research institute, I got a license as an automobile repair technician and ran an automobile repair shop in Korea.
After being sent to the Philippines as a missionary specializing in laymen in 2009, I wanted to create a center to teach car maintenance technology in the Philippines, but the financial foundation was not established.

In the meantime, I met Seong eun Kim, the chairperson of the SEF, who was looking for students who had difficulty concentrating on their studies due to financial difficulties, and took on the role of helping, selecting and distributing scholarship students in the Philippines.
Rather than providing temporary scholarships,
I recommended a method of continuously providing scholarships in connection with students' academic achievement, and further suggested establishing a technical school that teaches skills and links them to employment.
In the Philippines, it was impossible to operate educational facilities without a government-approved private organization, so in 2013, Seong Eun foundation Korea Philippines was established. We have established and operated an automobile technology school under the name.

The SGG Technical School was established in Montalban, a slum in the city of Manila that was formed around a pile of garbage.
Living conditions in Montalban are very poor.
As Manila's poor people are forcibly relocated due to the government's urban regeneration policy, living infrastructure such as electricity and water, as well as educational and cultural infrastructure such as schools are very vulnerable.
Completing compulsory elementary, middle, and high school education without interruption is not easy because young people have to dig up garbage to make a living.

Education for 30 first-year students started with the opening ceremony on May 23, 2015.
We have been trying to provide a foundation for nurturing dreams and hopes by teaching electric welding, computers, and Taekwondo as well as automobile maintenance to young people who have to dig through the garbage piles every day for a living.
In addition, since 2018, SGG Technical School has opened and is operating a one-year high school graduation examination curriculum for students who have not received a high school diploma because they have stopped studying for a living.
Even after completing compulsory education in this area, it is difficult to enter higher level school or get a job due to family circumstances. Helping young people who are desperately living in the pile of garbage every day through technical education so that they can become members of society is beneficial not only for their future, but also for their families and the local community.
Looking back, the process of selecting a site for a technical school, building it, and bringing in scrap materials and cranes for education from Korea to complete the educational facility was a time of hope and blessing.
